Natural skincare

January 29, 2010

For my very first ninja beauty post, I would like to talk about a subject very important to young women (and men, I’m sure): skincare! Everyone gets a blemish every now and then; some have more harrowing skin problems. I’ve been in both categories throughout my life, and tried many approaches, doctors, dermatologists, medicines, creams, over-the-counter systems, etc etc! Most recently I used the Murad acne system, scientifically proven to give you clear skin in as little as 4 weeks (and quite pricey). It didn’t do anything more than a $6 bottle of Neutrogena face wash. Upon figuring this out, I began (yet again) the search for the perfect external solution. Enter Burt’s Bees Natural Acne Solutions. I started out with the pore scrub whilst finishing up my Murad products. With Murad my skin was tight and dry. With Burt’s Bees I didn’t even need to moisturize after cleansing! The key factor in this is most definitely the ingredients. People think that using something harsh is how you get rid of acne. Red, peeling skin is good, right? We need skin cell turnover, but we don’t deserve to have our faces peeled off by chemicals. Burt’s Bees uses the same exact active ingredient as most popular cleansers and scrubs: salicylic acid. The only difference is that Burt’s salicylic comes from the NATURAL source: willow bark!

I have since started using the entire system you see in the photo above. It’s only been a few days, so my face is not yet as clear as day. But I can say that any breakouts I am getting (which can happen when switching products) are minimal, and disappear in 1-2 days. Am I onto something here? Yes! Natural is better. Try it out for yourselves, and let me know what you experience. Next up, I’ll be talking about homeopathic medicine for skin health (when I buy more pellets and see results or course).
